we can’t so easily extrapolate straight male/straight female gender roles onto the butch/femme dynamic cuz lesbians are inherently gender nonconforming (yes even femmes) and butches will face heightened homophobia/misogyny from the straight world (especially in terms of street harassment and being barred from institutions based on appearance) and the gay world due to a lack of femininity
what makes lesbians inherently gender nonconforming is the fact that exclusively male desire is an expectation of what being a woman means in Patriarchy
